A guardian angel can protect you from danger, but not from eating too much pepper soup; the guardian angel may cover you with wings, but he won’t tie your shoelaces; a guardian angel will guide your steps, but not carry you when you refuse to move. Since guardian angels offer divine protection and guidance, we must still act responsibly and make wise choices for ourselves. In Christian theology, Holy Guardian Angels are assigned to protect and accompany individuals throughout their life's journey. According to St. Thomas Aquinas: "The angels do not leave us, even though we may not see them. The angels are our guardians, who, though invisible, are always present." Some scriptural passages provide good examples of the role of Guardian Angels. “For he will give his angels charge of you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone” (Psalm 91:11-12). Jesus said to his disciples, “See that you do not despise one of these little ones; for I tell you that in heaven their angels always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 18:10). These scriptural passages remind us that we have a God who cares for us deeply and who sends celestial beings to watch over us and guard us against harm. In addition, people who support and care for us in our lives may be the earthly manifestations of our guardian angels. Wise people say, "Angels are often disguised as friends or family." Therefore, we are not alone in our journey through life in a world filled with uncertainties and dangers. Guardian Angels work 24/7 and are never off-duty. As God is faithful in protecting us, should we not be faithful in seeking his guidance and walking in his ways? Matthew 18:1-5, 10; 2nd October, Memorial of the Holy Guardian Angels
