PRIESTLY RETREAT

2/13/2026

PRIESTLY RETREAT
The Catholic Diocese of Katsina successfully concluded its 2026 Priestly Retreat, held from February 8–13, 2026, bringing together diocesan clergy for days of prayer, reflection, and fraternity. The retreat was facilitated by David Ajang of the Diocese of Lafia, with the participation of four priests from the Diocese of Zaria, enriching the shared spiritual experience. Throughout the retreat, Bishop Ajang guided the priests through profound spiritual conferences. He began with reflections on the importance of retreat as a time of renewal and deep encounter with God, followed by a meditation on the “Call–Response Relationship,” emphasizing the dynamic dialogue between God’s call and the priest’s faithful response. Subsequent sessions focused on the universal call to holiness, reminding priests that sanctity is the foundation of effective ministry, and on priestly fraternity, highlighting unity and brotherhood as essential witnesses to the Church. Further reflections examined the Bishop–Priest relationship, stressing collaboration in shepherding the faithful, as well as practical insights on fostering trust, loyalty, and mutual respect within diocesan life. The retreat concluded on February 13 with a solemn Closing Mass, during which a gift was presented to Bishop Ajang in appreciation of his spiritual leadership. The event ended with a group photograph, symbolizing unity and marking the successful completion of the 2026 Priestly Retreat.
