Parishioners Gather for Mass at St. Joseph Shagari-Lowcost
Katsina, Katsina State
The Catholic faithful of St. Joseph Shagari-Lowcost Parish assembled in large numbers on Sunday morning for a solemn Mass that began promptly at 7:01 a.m. with a procession. The liturgy was celebrated by Rev. Fr. John Ocheku, the Diocesan Liturgist, whose presence added special significance to the occasion.
Delivering a homily titled “Called to be Part of God’s Mission to the World,” Fr. Ocheku urged parishioners to embrace their role as active participants in the Church’s mission. He emphasized that the responsibility of spreading the Gospel extends beyond clergy, encouraging the faithful to live out their Christian values in everyday life.
“Each of us is called to be a witness of Christ’s love in our families, workplaces, and communities,” Fr. Ocheku told the congregation.
The homily resonated deeply, inspiring many to renew their commitment to service and evangelization.
The Mass continued with the Holy Eucharist, the central act of Catholic worship, where parishioners received Communion in a spirit of unity and devotion. The Mass concluded with prayers of thanksgiving and blessings, leaving Parishioners spiritually strengthened and motivated to carry the message of the day into their lives.
The event was widely regarded as a moment of renewal for the parish, reinforcing its mission to be a beacon of faith and service in the community
