NSITF Sensitises Clergy on Employees’ Compensation Scheme
During the engagement, the NSITF team sensitised the clergy on the meaning, functions, objectives, and benefits of the Scheme.
The representatives explained that the NSITF is a Federal Government owned agency established under the Employees’ Compensation Act (ECA) 2010 to provide compensation to employees who suffer work related injuries, occupational diseases, disabilities, or death arising from employment.
The team further explained that the Scheme is intended to promote social justice and protect the rights and welfare of workers by providing appropriate compensation and rehabilitation support to eligible employees.
The representatives also highlighted the relevance of the Scheme to workers across different sectors, including those within formal and informal employment arrangements.

Exploring Collaboration with Religious Institutions
The interaction also provided an opportunity for both parties to discuss areas of possible collaboration between the NSITF and religious institutions.
Particular attention was given to the potential of extending greater awareness and coverage to Church workers, volunteers, and mission staff, especially those who may not be adequately captured under existing arrangements.
The engagement was described as mutually beneficial, with both sides recognising the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation in promoting worker protection and social welfare.
The NSITF delegation expressed its commitment to sustaining enlightenment initiatives and strengthening its relationship with the Catholic Diocese of Katsina.
The courtesy visit concluded on a positive note, with both parties expressing openness to further engagement in areas of mutual interest and social responsibility.
