4/19/2026

MOTHER'S DAY CELEBRATION AT ST THERESA'S FUNTUA.
The liturgical celebration started at about 8;15am with an entrance hymn by the CWO choir and a procession led by Rev Fr. Reuben Ahmodu, the lay readers and the altar servers all covered by the Mothers. (CWO) The Kyrie and Gloria were sung joyfully. The Liturgy of the word continued with the first reading from the book of Acts of the Apostles Acts 2:14.22-33. The Responsorial Psalm from Psalm 16 "Lord, you will show me the path of life." The second reading from the 1 Peter 1:17-21. The gospel reading was proclaimed by Rev Fr Reuben Ahmodu from the gospel of Luke 24:13-35. In his homily, Rev. Fr. Reuben Ahmodu spoke on the theme “The Beauty of Motherhood.” He explained that motherhood is built on unconditional love, care, and sacrifice. A mother’s love is not limited to her biological children alone, but extends beyond them, even spiritually. He gave the example of the Blessed Virgin Mary, whose love reaches all of us. He also explained that motherhood involves deep connection, patience, and the ability to embrace challenges. Mothers nurture life not only physically but also emotionally and spiritually, helping to shape the future. He spoke about some of the challenges mothers face, such as losing a sense of personal identity, mental exhaustion, and lack of support. Despite these challenges, mothers continue to give their best for their families. He encouraged families to always honour and support mothers. This can be done by showing gratitude, spending quality time with them, respecting them, helping them with responsibilities, speaking well of them, and keeping in touch. He also advised mothers on how to nurture and preserve their homes. He encouraged them to build daily routines, keep their environment simple and peaceful, choose good friends, focus on meaningful connections, and spend time preparing meals together as a family. The Mass continued with the Profession of Faith, the Prayers of the Faithful, and the Offertory. The CWO celebration continued with the blessings of the apples and support for the mothers. The mass continued with the consecration of the Holy Eucharist. The faithful received the Holy Eucharist in reference. The CWO mother brought their thanksgiving to the altar of God. The mass came to a close with finals blessing by Rev Fr. Reuben Ahmodu at 12:40pm
