KATSINA-ALA DIOCESE EMPOWERS 150 BENEFICIARIES WITH START-UP SUPPORT
The Foundation for Justice, Development and Peace (FJDP) of Katsina-Ala Diocese, in partnership with the SPRiNG Project, has successfully provided livelihood start-up support to 150 beneficiaries across Katsina-Ala, Ukum, and Logo Local Government Areas of Benue State. In line with Bishop Dugu’s vision on integral formation, this intervention focused on capacity building, including women, youths, repentant bandits, and those with special needs. It featured the distribution of essential agricultural inputs such as improved seeds, fertilizers, livestock, improved oil palm seedlings, and farming tools, alongside vocational start-up kits for soap and petroleum jelly (Vaseline) production. The initiative seeks to promote self-reliance and enhance sustainable livelihoods. The Catholic Bishop of Katsina-Ala, Most Rev. Isaac Bundepuun Dugu, described the items as “seeds of transformation.” He urged beneficiaries to make prudent and productive use of the support received, and emphasised that the true value of the items lies in their multiplication and long-term impact. He further cautioned against the sale of the items, offered prayers of blessing over them, and entrusted both the beneficiaries and their endeavors to God’s providence. Through continued collaboration among community leaders, government agencies, faith-based institutions, and development partners, the Diocese reaffirmed its commitment to foster a more peaceful society—one that is not only envisioned but already beginning to take root. May Our Lady Queen of Sankera continue to intercede for us.
