The Catholic faithful of Katsina Diocese gathered in great numbers today at St. Martins de Porres Cathedral to mark the annual Christ the King procession, a solemn celebration that underscores the kingship of Christ over all creation. The event was presided over by His Excellency, Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Mamman Musa, Bishop of Katsina Diocese, alongside clergy including Rev. Fr. Luka Magaji Yohana, Rev. Fr. Chibuzor Victor, and Rev. Fr. Damian.
The day began with Holy Mass at the cathedral, where Bishop Musa delivered a homily emphasizing unity, peace, and the need for Christians to bear witness to Christ in their daily lives. He reminded the congregation that the feast of Christ the King is not merely symbolic, but a call to live faithfully under the reign of Christ in a world often challenged by division and uncertainty.
Following the Mass, the faithful embarked on a vibrant procession through the streets surrounding the cathedral. Hymns of praise, prayers, and the rhythmic sound of drums filled the air as parishioners carried banners and sang joyfully, proclaiming Christ as King. The clergy led the procession, blessing participants and passersby, while children ,youth Women, Knights, Alter Servants and other groups added color and energy to the celebration.
The event concluded with Benediction back at the cathedral, where Rev. Fr Luka expressed gratitude to the priests, religious, and lay faithful for their active participation. He urged the community to continue fostering peace and harmony, making Christ’s kingship visible in everyday life.
