The mass for the celebration of the ash Wednesday began at around 8:15am with the Procession which was celebrated by Rev.Fr Kelvin Bello
The first reading was taken from the Book of Prophet Joel 2:12-18
Second reading from the second Letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians, (2 Corinthians 5:20, 6:2)
The Gospel from the holy Gospel according to Matthew (Matthew 6: 1-6, 16- 18)
All the readings are summarized by the Celebrant during the Homily.
the Homily teaches us, the importance of LENT, he explained and emphasized on the three pillars of LENT, which are, praying, fasting and armsgiving. He also said that LENT is a symbol of repentance, the ashes remind us of our origin, that one day we will return to dust.
The Homily was followed by offering, consecration, communion and then announcement.
The mass ended at around 10am.
