PASTORAL CENTRE, MALUMFASHI HOLDS FIRST BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING

PASTORAL CENTRE, MALUMFASHI HOLDS FIRST BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING

The Pastoral Centre, Malumfashi, Catholic Diocese of Katsina, held its first Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, 29 September 2026, at the Centre, bringing members of the newly constituted Board together to deliberate on the Centre’s pastoral mission, development and sustainability.

The meeting was presided over by the Vice Chairman of the Board, Rev. Fr. Gabriel Saleh Matthew, while the Chairman, Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Mamman Musa, Bishop of Katsina, was absent due to other official engagements.

Board Reviews Vision and Future Development

The meeting provided an opportunity for members to discuss the vision and pastoral purpose of the Pastoral Centre, as well as strategies for its sustainability, development and future expansion.

Among the major areas considered were the diversification of the Centre’s services beyond accommodation, improvement of existing facilities, increased patronage, financial sustainability and the Centre’s role in supporting the missionary activities of the Diocese.

Proposed Expansion of Facilities

The Board considered the proposed construction of 30 additional rooms, recommending that the project be developed as an upstairs structure.

Members also discussed the proposed construction of 30 toilet facilities at the Events Centre, comprising 15 facilities for males and 15 for females, as part of efforts to improve the Centre’s facilities and capacity to serve its users.

Accountability and Quality Standards

The Board identified a number of challenges requiring attention, including the Centre’s location, infrastructure and the need to maintain appropriate quality standards in its operations and services.

For improved accountability and effective oversight, members agreed that financial reports should be presented at every Board meeting by the Manager and Director of the Centre.

The measure is expected to strengthen financial transparency and enable the Board to effectively monitor the Centre’s operations and progress.

Formal Inauguration of the Board

The formal inauguration of the Board of Trustees is expected to take place during the end-of-year Diocesan programme.

The meeting concluded at about 1:15 p.m. with a closing prayer led by Sr. Majella Dogon Yaro, followed by the final blessing from Rev. Fr. Gabriel Saleh Matthew.

The inaugural meeting marked an important step towards strengthening the administration, development and pastoral purpose of the Pastoral Centre as it continues to serve the Catholic Diocese of Katsina and support its missionary activities.
