Katsina, Nigeria — October 6, 2025
In a gesture of solidarity and ecclesiastical commitment, the Papal Knights paid a formal courtesy visit to the Bishop of the Katsina Diocese, reaffirming their dedication to the mission and vision of the Catholic Church in the region.
Led by Mr. Cyril Mathew, the acting president of the Papal Knights, the delegation was warmly received at the Bishop’s office. During the meeting, Mr. Mathew introduced the group and explained that their visit was in fulfillment of a mandate from the province to formally present themselves to the Bishop and offer their support to the diocese.
As part of their presentation, the Knights submitted two brochures: one detailing their investiture ceremony and another outlining the development of an ICT Centre in Sokoto, a project aimed at enhancing digital literacy and access within the Church’s educational framework.
Highlighting their commitment to the Church’s growth, Mr. Mathew emphasized that the Knights’ objective is to actively support the Bishop’s mission, vision, and goals within the diocese. In a symbolic gesture of goodwill, the delegation presented the Bishop with a cheque of ₦100,000 to aid diocesan initiatives.
The Bishop, in his response, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the visit and commended the Knights for their dedication and service. He reminded them of the foundational principles of their calling: to pray for the Church and to offer wise counsel in its affairs. He assured them of his blessings and prayers, encouraging them to remain steadfast in their spiritual and communal responsibilities.
The meeting concluded with a solemn prayer and blessing from the Bishop, sending the Knights forth with renewed purpose and divine guidance as they continue their work in service to the Church.
